Pharmacy First covers seven common conditions, each with its own criteria. Our pharmacist confirms whether it is right for you.

This may suit you if

  • You have one of the seven conditions we cover
  • You want advice and treatment without a GP appointment
  • You have been referred by NHS 111 or your GP
  • You want to be seen quickly, often the same day

  • If a prescription is issued, standard NHS charges apply unless you are exempt
  • Some conditions have age or other restrictions
  • If your condition is more serious, we will refer you appropriately

What we treat

Our pharmacists can assess and, where appropriate, treat these seven common conditions under Pharmacy First.

Sore throat

Assessment and treatment for a sore throat, for those aged 5 and over.

Sinusitis

Advice and treatment for acute sinusitis, for those aged 12 and over.

Earache

Assessment of acute earache (otitis media) for children aged 1 to 17.

Impetigo

Advice and treatment for impetigo, for those aged 1 and over.

Shingles

Assessment and treatment for shingles, for adults aged 18 and over.

Urinary tract infection

Treatment for uncomplicated UTIs in women aged 16 to 64.

Infected insect bites

Advice and treatment for infected insect bites, for those aged 1 and over.
